Fine People Keeping the World Fine

Roxane Gay, like Brad from Extract (thank you, Ben Affleck, for being hysterical) crushes ass. That's just something she does. And for the entire month of June at Necessary Fiction she crushed some serious ass as Writer In Residence.

Gigantic thanks to Roxane for putting together an awesome month filled with fineness. And ass crushing.

Extra gigantic supersized thanks to Roxane for bringing me into the ass crush fold. Peep my contribution HERE, and my reflection HERE.

Big ups to Steve Himmer and Necessary Fiction. Keep your eyes open as the calendar turns the corner into July, where the mighty William Walsh will be Writer In Residence.

RC Miller & Calliope Nerve Bring the GORE

It is Zombie Summer, yes? And what's Zombie Summer without a book titled GORE?

It's not a very Zombie Summer, methinks.

RC Miller is one of those writers that's quietly everywhere. You've probably shared an issue with him at one time or another. Hell, I remember RC from the FF500 days. Remember that place? (Fiction contest coming soon what??) And this summer, Calliope Nerve is blasting him with some well deserved spotlight by publishing a collection of his poems titled GORE.

And I think that's pretty fucking rad. Big congrats to RC & Calliope Nerve.

Purchase GORE HERE. It's also available as a FREE PDF download. Hot damn.

Hot Heat Hotness...essssss.

It's hot heat summer and when it's hot heat summer I think of Alicia Keys. I'm not sure why. I don't think this is a bad thing.

That is all. I have nothing intelligent to add. Enjoy.

Take Me Down To Awesometown

Jason Behrends, the mayor of Awesometown, has put together one of the coolest Orange Alert podcasts yet: Episode 16, The Smiths-i-Sode.

I've been a Moz fan for many moons, so when mayor Behrends asked if I'd like to contribute a reading of some Moz lyrics to commemorate the 24th anniversary of The Smiths' The Queen is Dead album, I did a goddamn backflip.

Dig it all here. Great readings from xTx, Amy Guth, Ben Tanzer, me, more more more. Music. More more more. Awesome. More more more. Get it. Go. Subscribe. Download. Something.

Thank you, Jason Behrends. Thank you Morrissey.

And I made a promotional video this week for my forthcoming novella Grease Stains, Kismet, and Maternal Wisdom. Thanks again to Christy Crutchfield. And, of course, to Aqueous Books. Dig that below. DIG, DAMMIT! DIG!

...I also learned today that I do not want to fight a bird. I'd fight a dog, but not a bird. Birds can fly and stuff. Beaks. Talons. Large. No.
